Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Practical gifts that aid recovery are the most appreciated. Think high-waisted underwear, a belly band, easy-to-eat snacks, a long phone charger, and items that promote relaxation. Our C-Section Care Package combines all these essentials into one thoughtful gift.

Moms need comfort (soft clothes that don’t rub the incision), support (belly bands, help around the house), practicality (things within easy reach), and nourishment (easy meals and hydration). Emotional support and understanding are equally important.

The 5-5-5 rule is a popular guideline for postpartum recovery: 5 days in bed, 5 days on the bed, and 5 days around the bed. This emphasizes the critical need for rest, limiting movement, and gradually increasing activity to allow the body to heal properly after delivery.

Key items include:

  • High-waisted underwear and loose-fitting pants.
  • lip-on shoes/slippers (no bending to tie laces).
  • A firm pillow to hold against your incision for coughs, laughs, and car rides home.
  • Dry shampoo and face wipes for easy freshening up.
  • A going-home outfit that is loose around the abdomen.

Yes! While you may not have perineal tearing, a peri bottle (often called a bidet bottle) is incredibly useful. It provides a gentle, hands-free way to clean yourself after using the bathroom without having to twist or strain, which can be painful after abdominal surgery.

Ideally, a partner should plan to take at least 2 weeks off work, if possible. The first two weeks are the most challenging for mobility. Having a partner who helps me to help with the baby, housework, cooking, and providing physical support (helping mom out of bed, etc.) is crucial for a smooth recovery.
